How Symbaloo prevents inappropriate content
Symbaloo employs the following measures to prevent inappropriate content from being shared publicly by its users. By implementing these measures,
Content Moderation and User Responsibility
Users can share Webmixes publicly or privately on Symbaloo. Public Webmixes are added to the Symbaloo Library, making them accessible to others. However:
- Users are responsible for ensuring that shared content complies with Symbaloo's Terms of Use, which prohibit inappropriate or harmful material. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Adult and explicit content
- Hate speech and discriminatory content
- Illegal and potentially illegal activities
- Misinformation and fake news
- Obscenity and profanity
- Content related to illegal drugs, unsafe supplements, tobacco, e-cigarettes, vaping, and alcohol
- Malicious images
- Content promoting crime
Child-Safe Mode
Symbaloo offers a Child-Safe Mode for Webspaces, designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This mode:
- Disables certain functionalities to ensure full compliance with COPPA.
- Replaces behavioural advertising with contextual advertising, which does not use personal information.
- Ensures that no personal information is collected from users under 13.
Web Filters and IP Blocking
For School and District accounts, Symbaloo provides additional security features:
- Administrators can implement web filters to block specific categories of content.
- IP blocking tools allow administrators to restrict access based on IP addresses.
Reporting function
If still our users find content on Symbaloo, they can always reach out to our Support on email address feedbacken@symbaloo.com and report unwanted content. We do our utmost to make sure this content will be removed from Symbaloo.
